THE HEMP MARKET
HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT. The High Commissioner’s cable, dated the 14th instant, reads: Hemp, Manila market quiet but closed steadier. “J” grade, Janu-ary-Mareh shipments sold at- £4l. Output January-September 1,036,000 bales as against 1,294,000 bales for the same period last year. Stocks , of Manila at ,31st October was 183,000 against 155,000 bales; Great Britain 37,868 bales as against 5,884 bales. Sisal market quiet but firm. Value No. 1 Tanganyika November-January £45. New Zealand market quiet with value high points November-Janu-ary at £39. Business has been done in fair at £35 and common at £34.
