HORTICULTURAL

SUMMER. SHOW, FRIDAY NEXT.

For the modest sum of Gd you can win a watch or a beautiful cuke at the Horticultural Show on .Friday next, in the Town Hall. The Foxton Silver Band will play selections. You will be well entertained so come along. At Friday’s Show, in the decorated table with embellishments competition, the public will be afforded an opportunity of voting on the question of which table they consider should be awarded the prize. The decision of the judge will he withheld until 8.30 p.m. at which hour the voting will close. It will be interesting to note the comparison between the judge’s award and that of the public. Intending exhibitors kindly note that the date of closing of entries is Thursday 19th, at 8 p.m. The secretary will be in attendance at the C. M. Ross buildings (upstairs), from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. ■ Late entries up to 9 o’clock on morning of Show, at double fee.

Members and well-wishers of the Society are asked to help by contributing to the tea-rooms instead of a cake-stall. Mrs John ‘Ross and Mrs McLaren will be pleased to receive cakes, scones or sandwiches.

It is hoped that the weather will not make any difference to •'the entries. It has been the same to all, so all will stand the same chance. Mr. Jim Ross has donated a beautiful floating bowl for the best rose in the show. This can be won outright with one rose. - ' Mr. Tongs’ trophy is for the best seed cake. Let there be plenty of entries —also Dir. Whitehead’s Family Cake and fruit cake, are specials with good prizes.
