CROQUET.
A general meeting of the Croquet Club was held in the Plunket room on Thursday evening. Present: Mesdames Pearson (president), Parkes, Bryant, Moore, Ball, Huntley. Downes, Woods, McMurray, Owen (secretary), Woods Misses Speirs and Wanklyn. The meeting was held to consider a notice of motion altering a resolution passed at the annual meeting: “That the first six weeks after opening day be devoted to ladder matches,” to” the first three weeks after opening.” It was pointed out that as it had been found necessary to close the green for matches for one month after opening day if the resolution passed at the annual meeting was adhered to it would be very late in the season before the handicap singles could commence. The motion on being put was carried unanimously. It was agreed that any member may challenge any member of a team chosen to within one week of 'matches, games to be two out of three. It was agreed that the green be open for regular play from Thursday, November 13. Correspondence was received from the Bowling Club agreeing to purchase new hoops and asking the assistance of the ladies of the Croquet Club at a proposed shop day to augment the Club’s funds. It was agreed to give assistance. The Manawatu Croquet Centre asked if Foxton Club wished to enter in in-ter-Club matches and it was decided to enter. The' secretary reported that the amount cleared at the shop day llield on October 24 amounted to £9 3/3. Accounts amounting to £3 11/9 were passed for payment Results of Wednesday’s 30-min-ute hournament: —Mesdames Pearson, McMurray, Moore, and Miss Wanklyn, 41, Mrs Bryant and Miss Speirs, 4; Mesdames Parkes, Ball and TT md, 31; Mesdames Owen and Downes, li; Mesdames Woods and Huntley J.
