ARMISTICE DAY.
To-morrow, November 11th will be the seventh aniversary of the signing of the Armistice. The following letter has been received by tile Borough Council from Ihe Prime Minister re Armistice day, stating that the following cable has been received from the Secretary of state for the Colonies: — “His Majestly has approved following arrangements for observance in this country of Armistice Day, November llt’h : (1) Short service will lie held at the Cenotaph on the lines adopted in previous years including hymn “0 God, Our Help in Ages Past.” (2) Two minutes silence will he observed at 11 a.m. Local authorities in this country will he asked to arrange for suspensions of all vehicular traffic for two minutes from 11 a.m., but iail and water transport will not be suspended.” In accordance with His Majesty the King’s wishes, the Council was requested to make suitable arrangements. The only local observation of„Arniistiee Day will be a period of two minutes’ silence at 11 a.m.
