FAMOUS LADIES’ PIPE BAND.
TOWN HALL TO-NIGHT A,T 8 p.m. The skirl of the pipes and the twirl of the kilts has ever been a call to run and take notice, but when the pipers and the wearers of the kilts are ladies, then it may be accepted that speed records will be broken.
The Austraian Ladies’ Pipe Band, which will appear in the Town Hall to-night (Thursday), for one night only. They are engaged to tour the world, and the reception given them throughout all the States in Australia and New Zealand warrants the anticipation of triumphant march to the tune of their own pipes. Not only are they gifted pipers, but in song, story, and in the dance they are pre-eminent. The band is led by Drum-Major William Darwin, F.R.G.S., magnificent in the tartan of the Royal Macduff. lie is the only man. The band is in the Cameron tartan, and “arrayed up to the last tick of the clock in Highland sartorial appointments.” Their programme caters for all tastes—Highland reels, Irish jigs and sailors’ Ihornpipqf; songs, national and temperamental; recitations, topical and Scotch; duets and choruses. This combination of musical talent, original and enterprising-, should not be missed. Intending patrons are requested to book their seats early. Box plan at Heath’s. The band will march from the Post Office to the Town Hall at 7.30 The programme will commence at 8 o’clock.
