The local Silver Band will play in Main Street to-morrow evening.
A reduction of 10s. per ton on all grades of sugcr is anounced. The official opening of the new St. Mary’s Convent at Palmerston North, was performer on Sunday afternoon by Archbishop Redwood in the presence of a large gathering of clergy and the public. The building is as yet incomplete. “When Labour comes into power they say they will repeal the Defence Act. Is it a fair thing to leave a country like this defenceless a country that our hoys have defended in the past and that depends on the trade routes to give an outlet for our produce. I think all will agree that wo must keep out of power a party that lias no defence policy.”—MV. Linklater at Levin last week.
