SHANNON CHORAL SOCIETY AT
MOUTOA.
The Choral Society journeyed to Moutoa on Wednesday night and gave a concert in aid of the Hall funds. The attendance was not up to what was expected and if country patrons want the society to assist them it is their duty to see that they are patronised. The choir was responsible for five items which were well rendered and much appreciated, the best item being the "Soldiers’ Chorus,” which had to be repeated. Mrs Barber and Mr. Aitken (both of Moutoa) contributed solos and were both re-called. Mr. Aitken acted as stage manager and at the conclusion of the performnee thanked the Shannon Society for their kind assistance. The visitors were entertained at- supper by the local residents. Following is the programme:—Part, song, “Dreaming Alone in the Twilight,” choir; piano solo, Miss Aim, part songs “Dame Harden,” and “Sweet and Low,” choir; vocal solo, Mrs. S. Barber; “The Lovers’ Quarrel.” Miss and Mr. W. Quarrie; song, “Time was I Roved the Mountains,” Dr. Maekereth; musical monologue “Shut Up,” Mr H. Andrew; vocal solo, Mr. C. Cronquest; chorus, “Soldiers’ Chorus,” choir: humourous quartette, “Profundo Basso,” Misses Quarrie and Messrs. Quarrie and Andrew; song, Miss Aim; recitation, “The Usual Way,” Miss Capes; song, Mr. Phillips; song, Mi's Barber; song, Mr. J. D. Aitken; part song, “Old Mother Hubhard,” choir. Mrs Clifford Jones ably acted as accompanist.
