HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
A committee meeting of the Foxton Horticultural Society was held on Friday night. There were present: Messrs. Christie (president) Murphy, Jas. Ross and Tyer, Mesdames F. Proctor, T. Easton, Murphy, Healey, McMurray, Moore (secretary) and Miss Speirs. Correspondence was received: — From the Foxton Silver Band, intimating that its members would be pleased to play on the evening of the Show, November 20. From the Rev. W. H. Walton, tendering his resignation as a member of the committee. He is a lifemember of the Society and in view of invaluable work as a member of the executive, it was decided to. ask him to reconsider his decision. STEWARDS.' Stewards were appointed as under: —Rose section and novice class, Mesdames Procter and Heasman; sweet peas, Mesdames Healey and Downes; cut Blooms, Mrs. T. East and Miss Wanklyn; decorated, Miss Neylon; fruit and vegetables, Messrs. Nye and Whibley; fancy work, Miss Patterson; cooking, Mrs Trueman; bird’s eggs, Mr. S. H Poole. GENERAL. The following prices were fixed for admission to the Show: Adults 1/-; children, 6d; under 12 years, 3d. Mr. S. 11. Poole was authorised to purchase timber for necessary stands. It was decided to procure a watch for a competition (in charge of Mr. Christie). Miss Gower has consented to take charge of the ice-cream and soft-drink tall. Messrs. J. Ross and Whiblej sere appointed door-keepers. The member for the district is to be invited to open the show. The Mayor (M. E. Perreau) is also to be asked to attend.
