A notable feature of electrical development in the Horowhenua district lias been the demand for electric ranges (says the Levin Chronicle). A total of 102 have already been installed, which is said to be greater than those put on in the city of Wellington or most of the northern power boards. The industrial and cooking consumption still account for the peak load on which the Board’s account is based. For the last quarter the highest half hour was between 11 and 11.30 o’clock in the morning.

A very pleasant function took place in the 'Presbyterian Sunday Schoolroom one evening last week when the Presbyterian K.O.S. Club took the opportunity to farewell Mr. and Mrs Slade, who are shortly leaving Foxton for Frankton Junction. A very enjoyable evening was spent with musical and vocal items and at a suitable juncture the Rev. F. McDonald presented Mrs Slade with a set of Dalton jugs as a slight token of the esteem in which both Mr. and Mrs Slade were held by those present, and expressed regret that they were leaving Foxton, but wished them every success in their new home. Mr Slade briefly returned thanks. Supper brought a close to a very pleasant social evening.
