UNITED SPORTS ASSOCIATION
The usual weekly meeting of the above was held in the Racing Club offices this week, presided over by the President (Mr. T. AY. Jewell), Also present were Messrs, R. Bryant, S. Barber, J. Thomson, C. A. Pearson, E, Parkin, S. Austin, 11. Hutchins and the secretary (Mr. F. Rimmer). Apologies for absence were received from Messrs AY. E. Barber, D. Ogilvy, F. Mason and Hay. CORRESPONDENCE was read and dealt with as follows : From Mi’. J. Linklater M.P., enclosing a donation. —Received with thanks. From the Railway Department stating that a special train would be run on Labour Day for the sports and also notifying special reduction in fares. — Received. From the Foxton Plunket Society, asking for permission to have collectors on the grounds on sports day.—Permission granted. From the Foxton Silver Band offering their services on sports day.—Accepted with thanks. GENERAL. It was decided to prohibit practice on the racecourse before the day of the meeting. The Association makes a complete denial of the rumour that Mr. P. Coleman will not be riding at the local sports on Labour Day. Mr. Coleman wired the secretary yesterday stating that the rumours were false and that he would be present and ride at the local meeting. .Just on one hundred entries were received with the closing of nominations. Nominations have been received from Wellington, Taranaki, A\ranganui, Masterton, Hastings, and Ilawera.
