WANGANUI PRESBYTERY
MEETING AT MALTON. The Presbytery of Wanganui met on Tuesday at Marion, the Moderator, Rev. .J. H, Bredin, presiding over a large attendance of members. A welcome was extended Rev. G. F. Cox, who was recently inducted to the charge of St. David’s Wanganui, and Rev. R. Inglis, M.A., of Wellington Presbytery. Reporting on a visitation to Foxton, Rev. T. Miller said that it was
i i.nsiderod (hat I his was a charge which should receive help financially from the sustentation funds. The charge had recently been divided, and this had placed a financial strain on the working expenses. A. favourable finding had been come to and read to the congregation.
Rev. F. McDonald, in reporting ■in a visitation to St. Andrew's Palmerston North, said that marked increases in finances had been shown during the past three years. The buildings and equipment were in a thorough state of repair and, despite the amounts spent on repairs and equipment the total indebtedness was only a little in excess of £2OOO. It was gratifying also that the bulk of the finance was raised by direct: giving. The youth work was in a healthy condition and the work of the minister was telling into the life of the people. A very favourable finding was submitted and read to the congregation at the congregational
meeting. If was decided that the two above findings be sent clown to the scission clerks of the respective congregations. Permission was given the Foxton congregation to raise a mortgage on its building and property for the amount of £350 at (If per cent. A committee consisting of Rev. T. Miller (convenor) and Rev. G. T. Brown, was appointed to confer with Rev. F. McDonald in regard to financial matters in connection with the Foxton charge.
