FOXTON CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.

QUARTERLY MEETING

The quarterly meeting of the above was held in Ross’s rooms on Thursday evening, presided over by the President, (Mr. A. E. Admore.) Also present were Messrs. D. Christie, F. Woods, Jno. Ross, G. F. Smith, R, McMurray and the Apologies for abvbgwkyqp CpuaP sec-rotary (Mr. F. Rimmer.) Apologies for absence were received from Messrs. D. R. Barron and 11. (Isborne. MOTION OF SYMPATHY. A motion of sympathy was passed to Mr. Mason, a member of the Chamber, in his recent sad bereavement, members standing in silence for awhile. CORRESPONDENCE was read and dealt with as follows : From the local branch of the Plnnket Society asking for a donalion —.Cl Is 0d donated. From the Minister of Justice in answer to a letter from the Chamber asking that a new courthouse be .-reeled in Foxton, pointing out that there were a number of places in more urgent need of new courthouses than Foxton, lmt stating (hat the request had been noted. — Received. From Mr. J. Linklatcr M.P., stating ttiai tic is prepared to represent !he local Chamber at the annual conference of chambers of commerce, lo he held in Dunedin in November.—Received. From the Manawalu County Council, in reply to a letter from I lie Chamber, stating that the Foxton Borough Council has aliened to the matter of had corners at the borough boundaries. —Received. Frill (lie Palmerston North Chamber asking co-operation in arraying a conference to deal with the matter of obtaining a light draft steamer for the Foxton trade. — Decided to acknowledge the letter and point out that the matter would lie referred to the Foxton Harbour Board, body which was going to arrange details in connection with a conference of local bodies at its next meeting.

Tt was decided to request the Postmaster to post up notices re height of Roods at Woodville when the occasion arose as at present only a few telephone subscribers were obtaining this very necessary information. Business of minor importance was discussed and the meeting rose.
