MANAWATU SEAT.
NATIONAL CANDIDATE SELECTED .
Mr. P. L. Ilollings, who is contesting the Manawatu Seat in the Liberal interests, has been selected b}’ the Leader of the Opposition (Mr. George Forbes)., as the official candidate of the National Party. Mr. P. L. Ilollings addressed the electors of: Shannon on Thursday night when there was an attendance of about 20 (says the Shannon correspondent to the M.D. Times). Mr. Ilollings, in opening, said he came amongst them tested and tried. He had nothing to gain, but an axe to grind. This axe was the restitution of the express train service taken from Shannon and the restoration of the Manawatu bridge. He also wanted to see a Distinct. High School in Shannon. Asked if he was a. financial member of Foxton Labour Party he said yes —he believed in their ideals, but not their methods. A vote of thanks was accorded the candidate.
Mr. Ben Roberts, official Labour Candidate for the Manawatu Electorate, has now resumed bis campaign, and spoke at Sanson last night.
