A couple of weeks ago the local Salvation Army tendered Mr Scollay, local hemp grader, a farewell social in the Army Hall, prior to his leaving for Auckland, to which

city he has been transferred. Vocal and instrumental items were rendered during the evening by Miss Chalk, song; Mr. Newth, trombone solo; Phyllis and Horace Tongs, duet; Arthur and Gordon Stone, recitations; Mr. and Miss Small, violin and piano duet; Mr Tongs, autoharp and mouth organ selection. During the evening the Revs. Peryman (Methodist) and Walton (Anglican) made eulogistic reference to the departing guest and his family and regretted that they were leaving the district.
