tLthe roading grants for (ho Horowheima County appearing on the Estimates are as follows: —KawiuEoxton road, £300; Ohau West road extension, £250 (increased from £l5O voted last year); Waikawa Beach road, £200; Waitarere road £SOO. “Aussie’s” Spring number has .just reached us and is full of cheerfulness and freshness of Spring. The host of humorous writers and artists at the call of “Aussie” furnish their best for this number which is full of irresistible laughter from cover to cover. It is hard to individualise in an altogether excellent issue but one contribution seems to stand out as a pure gem of laughter and this is a story by that clever humorous writer 11. 11. Riemann. New Zealand writers and artists figure well, in this great issue and of course have their own particular New Zealand Section comprising the usual sixteen pages of clever letterpress and drawings. “Humour” appeals to us as the ideal week-end paper for people of all ages. Its selection of humour covers a range of witticisms that must appeal to all. A few specimens from one of the latest issues just to hand: —An Irish chiropodist. announces that he has “removed corns from all the crowned heads of Europe.” Judge: —“Can’t you and your husbend live happily together without fighting"?” Mrs Mulcahy: —“No, your ’anner, not hannil.v ” ■
