BOWLING.
A fair amount of work has recently been done at the local green, in anticipation of the opening of the season next month. The ladies croquet lawn was cut and. rolled yesterday, and looks well considering the lack of sunshine for this lime of the year. With warmer weather for the next few weeks, and a slight top-dressing before opening day, the courts should be in good condition for play. The ilaLo of opening has not yet been decided upon by the Committee, Iml a meeting will be held shortly, when probably an opening date will lie iixed
At a special meeting of the Shannon Bowling Club this week, Mr. iJovis presiding, the new rules were adopted. The lighting committee reported that everything would be in readiness for the opening day and that the light would be switched on without fail in the evening. The green committee reported that the green was receiving extra attention and that it should be ready for opening about the first week in October. The refreshment committee was instructed to confer with the ladies of the Croquet Club and try to affect suitable arrangements for refreshments. Messrs. Clayton and Spencer were appointed trustees, and Mr. H. Jones, auditor.
