HOCKEY

The officials of the Foxton Ladies’ Hockey Club met on Thursday evening, Mr. M. E. Perreau (president) in the chair. The meeting was called for the purpose of considering the formation of a new sub-union lo the Manawatu Hockey Association. Mr. Clark reported that he had been in communication with the Levin Club, which was most anxious to have a sub-union formed, and if two teams could join from there with two from Foxton and one each from Shannon and Oroua Downs the success of the subunion would be assured. It was decided to write to Otaki Levin, Shannon and Oroua Downs asking these clubs (in view of the match with Mnnawatu) to send teams or players to take part in trial games so as to give the selectors an opportunity of choosing a team, also to appoint delegates to attend a conference to form a subunion. Doubt was expressed as to whether the Manawatu Hockey Association would agree to a subunion being formed. Mr. McMurray considered there would be no difficulty, for there were too many good sports in the Manawatu Hockey Association to object to any move that made for the progress of the game; but if there was difficulty, they could simply reform the old Ilorowlienua Association. It was left to the secretary to call another meeting when replies came to hand from the other clubs.
