EUCHRE PARTY AND SOCIAL

The usual fortnightly euchre party and social was held in the Methodist Sunday school room by the Druid’s Lodge on Friday, September 11. There was a very good attendance, 80 players sitting down to euchre, and also 20 to 25 young people taking part, in the games which were set aside for them. Mrs Low, a visitor to Foxton secured the ladies’ prize and Mr MeKnight (sour.) the men’s prize. Miss Gwen Hoffmann secured the consolation prize and Mr. W. MeKnight, Air Neville and Mr. Wright drew for the men’s consolation prize, which had to be cut for Mr MeKnight winning. The games set a,side for non-card players were won as follows: —Miss Vera Parker Ist; Miss Mavis Vertongen 2nd. While waiting for the prizes to be presented, a very tasty supper was handed around by a willing band of helpers and the ladies in charge of the supper-room deserve credit for the way they carried out their duties. The public are also reminded that these parties will be continued throughout the summer months.
