METHODIST CHURCH

A concert in ('onnoi'ti«m with the minivorsarv of the above was hold on Friday evening last. The attendance, considering; the weather and other circumstances, was very "•ratilying. The programme was all that lhe most exacting’ could have desired. A select party from Shannon braved (lie weather —and the jainl,- —and the members of the same were accorded a hearty vote of thanks for their courage, and their contributions. Among the last named were two violin solos by Miss \\ r . Pickles. These were excellently played and deservedly encored. In fact practically every item on the programme was recalled. Miss Sylvia Qnarrie and her brother rendered two ducts, and the latter a solo. The second duet, being of a humorous character, was especially enjoyed. Messrs. Young and Marl, who are new to Fox ton audiences, delighted those present v. ith a duet, and were equally pleasing with their encore number, as also with their individual solso. Mr. Marion was heard to advantage in a song and like (lie other singers generously contributed an encore number. Miss F. Chalk and Miss 0. Hoffmann were also recalled for very line solos. The choir under the leadership of MV 11. Osborne, and assisted by friends gave a part song and an anthem which were much appreciated, Mrs E. Westwood officiating at the organ. Accompaniments were played by Mi's Westwood, Misses Pickles and Quarric, and Mr Tliornbcr.

At the conclusion of the evening all those assisting in any way with the concert were heartily thanked, a special word of thanks being given to Mr. C. Hoffmann who kindly conveyed lhe Shannon friends from and to the punt. The National Anthem concluded the entertainment after which supper was served to the performers and -choir by members of (he Ladies’ Guild.

Special mention should be made by of the floral decorations which were arranged by Mrs IT. Osborne.
