RAILWAY WORKS.

DEVIATIONS. In the annual Railway Statement delivered in the House on Tuesday evening the following reference was made to the Palmerston North '.ailwa.y deviation: — Arrangements arc now being made to purchase the necessary land for the deviation of the line and new station-yard. The survey is in hand, and will be complete in about three months. When this is done, arrangements will he made to start the earth-works. Very good progress (says the Statement) is being made by the contractor with the construction of the concrete sea-wall across the Kniwarra Bight. Tenders have been called for the necessary stonework along the harbour-front front Kahvami Station to it point south of Ngaliau ranga.
