The llawkes Bay Union regretted thni they were unable to fulfil their engagement for the match against a team from Horowhenua, scheduled tor September Kith. This had been brought about through September 19lh being the dale on which New South Wale- play New Zealand at Auckland, which is the date when llawkes Bay are due to play Wellington, thereby compelling the llawkes Bay Union to seek another date for the Wellington match, which interfered with previously arranged tour. Air. Austin suggested the 9th September might he reserved for a match with ITawkcs Bay, but on Mr Wrigley's motion if was resolved that the secretary be empowered to write that Union, protesting against the postponement and asking for another date. Failing a satisfactory reply, the matter should he taken up with the New Zealand Rugby Union, hi seconding the motion, Air. Robinson remarked that the people throughout the Horowhenua Union had been looking forward, for some time, to this particular match, and the postponement would he a pretty severe knock to (he Union. Mr. Wrigley said if would be the biggest gate Horowhenua has seen. The Committee decided that neither .Junior nor senior games will lie played on Saturday next, owing to the rep. game in Palmers-
The Alanageinent Committee of the Amalgamated Unions are meeting on Saturday . August 22nd. at 7.30 pan. in Palmerston North.
The secretary of the combined union advised that the Afanruvatullorou henna .lunior match will be played as a curtain-raiser to the New South Wales match at Palmerston North on Saturday next at 1 p.ui.
