RUGBY MANAGEMENT.

HOROWHENtTA COMMITTEE MEET. Those present at Tuesday night’s meeting of the Horowhenna Rugby Union’s management committee, held in Levin, were Messrs. Carmichael (secretary), Sloan, Robinson, Hutchins, Austin, McMillan, Anderson, Rimmer (chairman) and Hannan.

Included in the correspondence brought up for discussion wore the following matters:—

The Headmaster of the- Otaki State School wrote challenging Foxton for the Anstin Challenge Banner and also thanking the Union for the football received. —The match is to he played at Foxton on Saturday. Trip expenses for the rep. players to Palmerston North, amounted to ,CS 7s 2d —“a very cheap trip,” commented the secretary. Mr. Rimmer said the arrangements were entirely .satisfactory and the manager (Mr Robinson) deserved every commendation for the way he had managed the players. (Applause). While he thanked the committee for their sentiments, Mr. Robinson said that, where posible, players should he sent by eqrs instead of by train to enable them to get; back after the match and to get something to eat before they departed for home. “We. should consider the players a little more —even if it costs the Union an extra pound or so to do it,” he remarked. Mr. Robinson drew special attention to the tine hospitality which the Manawatu Union had extended to the Horowhenna players. The hot food and drink supplied by them had been most gratefully received. It Was decided that no further would he granted this season, and all applications were therefore refused.

Permission was given to the Hui Mai Seniors to play a friendly game with Feilding, at Feilding, on Saturday. Mr. Hutchins moved that as a rep. North and Sonth match had been played last year, a similar game should also be played this vear .—Carried.

The secretary (Mr. Carmichael) aiggested that all club secretaries

should he given a pass which would give them access to all grounds within the union. These men, he said, did a tremendous amount of work gratis for their clubs. —Carried.

The attention of gatekeepers is to he drawn to the necessity for every spectator receiving a ticket before being allowed on the ground. SATURDA Y’S REFEREES.
