ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL.
EXECUTIVE MEETING
The regular meeting of the executive of the Manawatu Football Association was held in Palmerston North on Tuesday evening when the president, AIY. J. C. Young occupied the chair. Other members present were: Messrs. H. Johnson, H. Crouch, 0. Taylor, E. Kempson, J. Davidson, 11. Simmonds J. S. Jenkinson and J. R. Blackwell. CORK E S PON D ENCE.
The Foxton Club wrote protesting against St. Andrews B. defaulting on July IS, this action putting the club to unnecessary expense. The chairman stated that it was a very unfortunate occurrence. The secretary was instructed to inform the writers the the matter was a club affair and had nothing to do with the Association.
The Foxton, Hr. Andrews, R.S.A.. and Athclete Clubs notified their intention of contesting 11re “knockout" competition which will he commenced next Saturday.
The governing body wrote informing the Association that it was procuring a supply of referee charts
for the next season, containing the latest amendments to the rules. —lt was decided to order a dozen copies. A suggestion that the North v. South match should he an annual iixture was received from the New Zealand Football Association, the writers also asked for the name of any player in the district eligible to [day in such a match. The game would he played at Wellington or Christchurch some time in September. —Referred to the clubs for nominations.
GENERAL,
Some discussion arose, when it came to authorise the signing of a ten-year lease of the North street Park, on the question of allowing the Council to let the grounds whenever the Association was not using the area. The chairman slated that the Association had only been trying to protect itself from incidents that had taken place during the past season, such as the occasion when outsiders cut up the ground on the morning of a cup-tie game. He. personally, was not in favour of signing the lease until some guarantee was given. It was finally decided to write to the town c lerk pointing out that the conditions imposed discounted the agreemenl arranged and would prove unworkable, and asked that the Reserves committee modify the clause.
'fhe chairman reported that the Y..M.C.A. (Wellington) fourth grade iearn would he visiting Palmerston Xorth on September 12, and it was divided to play the visitors against the junior team. It was also decided jo ask Wanganui team to plav the return match oil the same day. when the stand would lie otlicially opened. The draw for the “knock-out" competition resulted: Foxton v. Atheletie at Foxton; R.S.A. v. St. Andrews, at Palmerston North.
Accounts amounting to £1 15s Od, were passed for payment.
