WANGANUI EDUCATION BOARD.

The monthly meeting of the Wanganui Education Board was held in Wanganui last night. Lt was decided not to grant holidays to enable school children to v isit the American lieet at Wellington.

One member said it would be a different matter if it were our own licet, and another wondered if the \ isitors would parade the streets proclaiming that they had won the war.

It was resolved that the Christmas holiday this year be extended from December ISth to February 2. .Members staled that it was desirable to work as nearly to Christmas as possible, on account of the (■fleets of the epidemic.
