HEMP MARKET.

JUNE GRADING RETURNS

The grading returns for hemp, tow, stripper tow and stripper slips for the month of June have been issued by the Department' of Agriculture as under:—

The following shows the detailed particulars of the hemp graded: —

Seventy-one bales at Piet on were graded line. Twenty-one bales at Auckland, 12 at Fox ton and 112 at Wellington were rejected and two bales at Auckland and six at Wellington were condemned. The following shows the number of hales in each grade the number for the corresponding period of last year being given in parenthesis:—Fine 71 (nil), good fair 047 (415). high fair 37-11 (2255), low fair 224!) (!)!)!)), common 309 (144), rejected 145 (72), condemned 8 (1 ). a total of 723(1 hales, an increase of 3344 bales, on lasl year’s figures.

Tin* number of bales graded at each port was as follows: — Wairoa 1.54, Auckland 1990, Foxlon 1347, Wellington 2432, Pieton 82, Blenheim !)S, Dunedin 370, Pt. Chalmers 1.50, Bluff 508, Lyttelton and Christchurch 9.3. The following shows the detailed particulars of the tow graded:—

One bale at Blenheim, 31 at W/ellington and 10-1 at Auckland were eondomned. The following shows (he number of bales in each grade, the number for the corresponding period of last year being given in parenthesis':—lst. grade 221 (143), 2nd grade 1287 (70(3), 3rd grade 252 (02), condemned 130 (1!)), a total of 1890 bales as against 930 bales graded for the same period last year, an increase of 990 bales. The number of bales graded at each port was as follows: —Auckland 554, Foxton 200, Wellington 515, Wairoa 28, Pieton 28, Blenheim 54, Dunedin 48, Pt. Chalmers 110, Bluff 320, Lyttelton 39. Stripper tow: — Forty-three bales at Wellington and 80 at Foxton were graded 2nd grade and 11 bales at Wellington were (condemned, making a total graded of 134 bales as against. 58 last year, an increase of 70 bales. Stripper slips:—The following is the detailed particulars of the stripper slips graded:— Passed for Ports Ist 2nd Export Auckland 3 31 2 Foxton Bluff Wellington Lyttelton Seven bales at Auckland were condemned. The total number graded for the month was 208 bales as against 71 last year, an increase of 137 bales.
