The secretary in outlining the reason for the deputation visiting Wanganui said that the Committee had discovered that several past payments made by them had not been brought under the notice of the Board and consequently subsidies had not been paid on them to the Committee. It had been decided at the last meeting that Messrs. Perreau, Mason and the secretary bring the matter before the Board and last Monda'’ the deputation waited on the Board in Wanganui. The Headmaster brought up the question of acquiring the vacant section to the south of the school, adjacent- to Ihakara Gardens. He said that with the advent of a District High School a greater playing area would be neoestsarv. .'This section would make an admirable infant playing area, or be an ideal sight for the erection of swimming baths. Mr S. E Cowley said that lie had heard that some time ago a local lady had offered to erect swimming baths for the school free of cost. He asked if any other committeemen had heard of the offer. Those present expressed the hope that such an offer would materialise but nothing had been heard of it. The chairman pointed out that the whole trouble of acquiring the land referred to was the title question. An attempt had been made some time ago to obtain this section hut without avail. He understood that the position was better now, however, and was of opinion that little trouble would be incurred in arranging a transfer of title. He offered to obtain the necessary signatures for such work.

Decided to leave the matter in the hands of the chairman. Decided to remove the iron fence between lhakara Gardens and the school and to leave the ake ake hedge in its place. The question of the removal of the pine trees on the west side of the school was

brought up but after a discussion it was decided to view the trees before taking any action. It was decided to employ the caretaker (o fill in holes at the Duncan Street school entrances. Decided to ask the Board architect to visit the school with a view to obtaining a plan for the laying down of concrete ]iatbs and the carrying out of necessary workes, erection of seats, etc. at the school. ,
