HOROWHENUA RUGBY UNION.

THE AYEEKLY MEETING. The weekly meeting of the Horowhenua Rugby Union was held last night under the chairmanship of Mr Rimmcv, the others present being: Messrs. Robertsluiw, Dal/.011. McMillan. Hutchins, Robinson, .Austin, Andrew and Sloan. A letter was received from the Levin Borough Council granting the Union permission to use ils own tickets, conditional on the provision of an auditor’s certificate at the close of the season.

The 'Manawatu Rugby Union ask.al that a match be arranged on the 15th of August in order to select the team lo play New South Wales. On the motion of the chairman the date was accepted. The conditions of the “Beddington" Shield competition was the subject matter of a letter from Rang'dikei Sub-Union, but it was decided to hold it over in the meantime. The Foxton Racing Club advised that their committee had decided to allocate the Racecourse Ground on a basis of 5 per cent, of the gate, the Union to erect a wire fence at gate, dividing the railway line and racecourse Mr Robinson agreed to handle the matter.

A letter from a Foxton football supporter alleging the use, by one uf the ITorowheima, Union committeemen, of “disgusting language” at the Foxton Juniors —A wall ou match, was before the meeting. The writer asserted that the committeeman had also “vented his spleen" on another spectator and he (the writer) wondered how one could he expected to enjoy a match when subjected to such abuse. After hearing the explanation of the member concerned to the effect that the incident was a personal one between hint and the complainant, a motion was carried that the letter be merely “received.”

The protest by the Foxton Club against Hendrickson playing junior for Shannon on the ground that lie had previously played senior for the Bush Union was disallowed, the committee considering that he was not a senioir.
