Tutanekai left Wellington at 10.50 to go to the rescue. The shipping, as nearly as can lie placed, shows that only the s.s. John, Kolii, or the trawler Futurist are likely to he in the vicinity. The Arnlmra, on her way to Pieton last night, saw no lights, Imt was coming hack through Tory Channel oil her way to Nelson in order to search. Terrific gales and huge seas are reported at Titahi Bay and other places up the coast, and great anxiety is felt as to the safety of the vessel, the identity of which'is no| yet ascertained. !t is possible that the vessel my he sheltering behind Mana Island. If a vessel such as the John or Kolii had broken down they would drift northward past Kapiti in the southerly gales and seas.
