LEVEL CROSSING FATALITY

MOTOR CYCLIST CRASHES INTO EXPRESS. As a result of crashing into the south-bound Auckland express at the Terrace Street railway crossing Palmerston North, this morning, a man named Norman Greer, aged d:>, -ingle, of Palmerston .North met Ins death. Mr Greer was riding a molor cycle along' Terrace Street and was in the act of crossing the line w hen lie wits struck by the on-com-ing train. He apparently did mu hear or sec I lie approach of 1 lie express until if was right on him and he i hen endeavoured to swerve the cycle lull without avail. The cowcatcher caught the .machine and hurled the rider 7)0 feet along the track, while the machine was picked up 200 feet further on. The unfortunate man sustained a. broken thigh, leg and head, and was killed outright.
