The position with regard to the man over whom the trouble arose was that for the £>ast four or Jive years he had been employed at the Tokomaru works, lie commenced work this year, and then left of his own accord to go ti. the Waipaoa works. After three weeks there he went to Wairoa, and worked a short time. Then he returned to Tokomaru. In the meantime another man, previously engaged, had started work a day or two after the other had made his application. No further men were required, and the man was not t herefore given a job. The man approached his own comrades, and asked them to epiue out on strike, but they refused, and it was only after a visit from the Union secretary that they did so. The Inspector of Factories is proceeding against seventeen employees for being parties to a strike. The ease will be heard on June 19..
