MOUTOA NOTES.

SCHOOL DANCE.

(From our own correspondent.)

The school dan.ee held in the hall on Friday evening last was a great .success, socially and financially the proceeds aiiioiiming i<> £2O. The dance music was of the best, with Mr H. George at. tin* piano, accompanied by a ‘Mniekshec” orchestra under Mr. If. Walls 10 whom the committee are gratefully indebted. During the evening, Mr c Aitken thanked Mesdames Eder and Lampp for ibeir efforts in organizing a shop day ami the dance and congratulated them on the results. The competition for Ihe box of cigarettes was won by M r El worthy, of WhilHimui, and the cake by Miss Edna Wilson.

We are pleased to learn tha t Mrs tiiegory's little boy, Leslie, is soon to return from the, Palmerston North Hospital. Tin* Moil ton Bachelor's are holding a ball at an early date and from memories of last year's ball we believe it. will lie one of the events of the season.

A regular daily char-a-banc, service to Palmerston North has been commenced and will be a great convenience to Moutoa-itcs.

The mail only coining three times a week is a great, inconvenience and it; is hoped that there will shortly be a daily service.

Steps should be taken to have a notice put up directing travellers to tbe use of the punt, as strangers to the disriet are liable to get into a dangerous positino by proceeding on to the bridge, especially at night. This happened recently tuid it was only with great presence of mind that the car was stopped on the brink of a 30 feet drop.
