The purpose of the Loan is (a) provide the Council’s eonlri bnlion under "The Main Highways Act. 1922” and amendment:- thereto towards the construction or re-construed ion of the Alain Highways throughout the County of Manaw,atu and V. it bin No. 9 Highway District, as mentioned in the New Zealand Gazette dated 12th June, 1924, and (b) to provide the necessary plant and machinery for carrying oni the said work of construction or re-construction of such Main Highways aforesaid. 2. The sum proposed to he borrowed is:— £ (a) For Main Highway const ruction or reconstruction 52,500 (h) For plant and machinery necessary to carry out the said work of construction or re-const ruction 7,500 £60,000 3. It is proposed that the term of the loan shall he for a period of not more than thirty-six and a-balf years and that the rate of interest to be paid on the loan shall not exceed £5 !0/- per centum per annum, plus a sinking hind of one per centum per annum. As security for the loan it is proposed to make :i special rate of thirteen thirlysecoinla oj; a penny in the pound upon all the rateable value (being the unimproved value) of all rateable property in the County of Manawatu. 4.
