FOXToX v LEVTN. Yesterday afternoon the Fox lon ladies* hockey team .journeyed to Levin to piny a mutch against the I-X cel si or lentil of Levin. The following- represented Fcxinn: Mis-os \\. Walls (enpt.), F. I'altersnn. F. Ib’ivey, W. Waller, V. Anderson. 13. Ritchie, R. Barber, M. (iraham, O. I'i’oeinr and .Mesdamr- Ball and A fells. From ilie sinrl. Levin alinekid, and for a lillle time kept the Foxion team penned in their 25. After ten minutes or so the Levin forwards managed to get the lirsl
~vme. Shortly after this the Foxlon forwards got the hall and. after a splendid run by W. Walls and F. I’n I fcrsmi, the hall was passed aeioss to .Mrs Ball who made no mistake, making one all. Flay Iheri was curried quickly from one end of the Held lo the other. Levin made
a few attempts to score, Iml found <». Proctor's defence 100 strong. Play was carried hack’wards and forwards, both sides making great efforts. At lasi F. Patterson look the hall well lip the field, passing to W. Wall-, who scored a good goal. Levin now made tilings hot, and Fox ton had to -concede on three corners, Inil relief was given hy Mrs Arens driving well up the Held, .(list before hall time, the Levin forwards came with a rush and, finding the Foxlon bucks vveakne-s, worked right up, Miss Proctor bcing given no chance at all. Levin -.cored and incidentally knocked Miss Proctor out for a minute. The half-time whistle then blew.
On resuming play the eaplain i hanged the position of the hacks, placing Miss R. Bather lei I hall, ami lliis proved a good move ior ihe Levin forwards found it impossible to gel past. Play was now very -! rennous, both teams making’great ■lforls. Faulty shooting by Levin {list them two or three opportunities and sound defence on Foxlon s part made all efforts futile.
