THE SEARCH FOR OIL.
INDICATIONS AT GISBORNE. Gisborne, April 10. Exploratory work in connection with petroliferous areas in this district lias been conducted for several months past on behalf of an Australian company, headed by Mr Thomas Baker, and under the direction of Dr. Clapp, geologist. A surveyor has now been brought from America and detailed plans uf the whole area over which the company lias obtained an option will lie drawn up. The work will take many months. Future development depends on the conclusions drawn from the detailed plans.
