S.M. COURT.

MONTHLY SITTING. The monthly sitting' of the S.M. Court was held in the Court House yesterday, before Mr J. L. Stout S.M. C. M. Sorensen, of Himatangi charged with allowing a horse to wander on County roads, was fined 5s with costs 12s. Mr Berry (County Traffic Inspector) represented the Manawatu County Council. Hans Andresen and Mrs Hofmann were each charged with allowing stock to wander on borough roads. Both pleaded not guilty. Mr Bergin appeared for the corporation. In outlining the case, Mr Bergin said this case had arisen out of one dismissed last day when J. A. Hofmann was charged with allowing stock to wander. He denied ownership of the cows and said they belonged to his wife and father-in-law and so steps had been taken to have the offenders dealt with.

Mr Neville (borough traffic inspector) gave evidence as to having found the cows grazing on the road. ■ After desultory argument Hans Andresen was fined £1 with costs 7/- and Mrs Hofmann 10s with costs 7s. Four cases of failing to destroy rabbits, brought against district farmers by the Manawatu Rabbit Board Inspector were, on his application, adjourned to Palmerston, to be heard on the 27th inst. CIVIL CASES. Judgment was given plaintiff by default in the following cases: — D. W; Robertson and Co. Ltd., (Mr Bergin) v. Henry Lorimer, claim £7, costs 16s; R. McMullian (Mr. Hollings) v. W. Vickers, claim £2 10s, costs £1 3s fid; Foxton Borough Council (Mr. Bergin) v. B. C. Carter, claim £3 2s Bd, costs £1 3s fid. JUDGMENT SUMMONS. Richard Dyas was ordered to pay Smith and Starkie £5 forthwith, in default 14 days imprisonment, warrant suspended so long as defended pays £2 per month. George Papara was ordered to pay Gabriel Sassien, (Mr. Bergin) £4-ss, forthwith, in default 7 days imprisonment, warrant suspended so long as defendant pays £2 per month.
