ENTERTAINMENTS.

ROYAL PICTURES. Motion pictures have brought us many varied thrills in the course of.the last decade. But it is doubtful if there ever was developed a bigger sensation than the scene in Jane Novak’s great production, “The Snowshoe Trail” in which Jane Novak and Roy Stewart are spilled off the backs of their horses into a surging whirlpool cluttered with ice. This wouldn't be bad in the summer but in the winter and during a blizzard it attains the proportions of a fourplv dramatic smash. See it all at the Royal Theatre tomorrow night. Driving a racing auto through a circus tent, a lemonade stand and a fence may be dangerous —but its fun 100. Hoot Gibson does it in “The Sawdust Trail,” his new Universal starring vehicle coming on Friday to the Royal theatre. Preliminary notice is given of the great Movie Ball to be held shortly. THE ENEMY SEX. There’s a treat in store for the patrons of the Town Hall Cabaret to-morrow evening, when “The Enemy Sex” will be screened. It is a snappy, peppy story of the life and loves of a Follies favourite, played by Betty Compson. This is the first American picture of Miss Compson since her return from England, and she is supported iff this James Cruze production by Percy Marmont, Kathlyn Williams, Sheldon Lewis and Huntly Gordon. James Cruze, the director, is, of course, well remembered as the producer of “The. Covered Wagon” and other big features. Supporting pictures to-morrow evening are a two-reel comedy, “A Ghostly Night,” a Paramount News, and a Burton Holmes Travelogue. Usual Cabaret prices. Charles Jones, who began his screen career as a cowboy, and lias portrayed various other roles with success, adds the part of a foreman to bis accomplishments. This part he plays in “Cupid’s Fireman,” an exciting drama heading the list of pictures at the Town Hall on Saturday next.
