REPLY TO CHRISTCHURCH PRESBYTERY.
Christchurch, Last Fight. In reply to a-communication from the Christchurch Presbytery, expiessmg the new policy in respect to the running of excursion trains on Sundays, Mr Coates said the Department did not encourage tlu extension of Sunday trains, but where it was clearly shown that a largo number of people desired to travel on Sundays, the Department iiad to recognise its obligation as an institution owning the means of transport. , m.
