FOXTON FOOTBALL CLUB.
ANNUAL MEETING. The a’nnual general meeting of members of the Fox ton Football Club was held in the Town Hall supper-room last evening. Mr H. Hutchins was proposed as chairman, but declined, Mr R. Bryant being then appointed to that position. There was a good attendance of followers of the game, the number being about 50. The annual report and balancesheet were read and adopted. Mr C. E. Robinson wrote stating that he would not be able to accept the office of President this year. The Chairman mentioned the valuable services rendered by Mr Robinson as president for many years, and said he regretted Mr Robinson would not allow himself to again be nominated this year. It was decided to forward a letter of appreciation to Mr Robinson, and also that the Club regrets his inability to offer his services as president this year. The honorary secretary, Mr H. Robinson, tendered his resignation as secretary. Appreciative reference was made to Mr H. Robinson’s services as secretary, and his resignation was accepted with regret. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The election of officers resulted as follows: — Patron: Mr .1. Linklater, M.P. (re-elected). President: Mr H. Hutchins. Vice-presidents: Messrs D. Ogilvy, M. E. Perreau, W. Kirkland, F. K. Robinson, 0. Robinson, W. Jewell, S. Austin, W. E. Barber, D. Christie, R. Hynes, Dr. Wyllie, Dr. Rowley, R. Rangihenea. F. Robinson, G. Coley, Rev. Walton, Rev. McDonald." F. Mason, D. R. Barron, W. E. Bullard. Vice-president to Horowhenna Rugby Union: Mr R. Bryant. Treasurer: Mr M. B. Bergin. Auditor: Mr D. Christie. Secretary: Mr R. McEwen.
Committee: Messrs A. Stevenson, G. Alexander, D. R. Barron, VY. Trueman, S. Head, F. Mason, IT. Taylor. Delegates of annual meeting Horowhenua Rugby Union: Messrs G. Alexander, A. Stevenson, D. R. Barron, and H. Hutchins. It was decided not to send a delegate this year to the weekly meetings of the Horowhenna Rugby Union. It was decided to enter Senior, Junior, Third and Fourth teams for Ihe Horowhenna Rugby Union competitions. Selectors. —It was resolved that the captain and coach of each team be the selectors. The following coaches were appointed: —Seniors, Mr R. Rangiheuea; Juniors, Mr H. Taylor; Thirds, Mr F. Williams; Fourths, Mr J. Dunn. The following were appointed referees:- —Messrs S. Head, W. Andresen, J. Dunn and W. Neville. - A draft of rules for the governing of the Club was read, and after discussion and several alterations, it was decided that the rules be submitted to the Committee, with power to act. It was decided that the subseripbe the same as last year. VISIT FROM HOROWHENUA UNION OFFICIALS. Messrs Rimnier (chairman) and Carmichael (secretary), of tke,Horowhenua Rugby Union, attended the meeting, and were introduced by Mr F. Robinson, who said these gentlemen would be pleased to answer any questions members cared to ask. visitors were heartily welcomed.
Mr Carmichael addressed the meeting, and expressed pleasure at being present, and gave information as to the prospects of the game in the Union, which he said were very promising indeed, and from data which had come to hand it was believed there would eight more teams competing this year than last. Mr A. Stevenson asked whether the Foxton youths had had a fair run last year. Mr Carmichael said the rule book laid down . that home and home matches were to be played, ft was unfortunate that Foxton only had one team, as against two in Levin, which meant that Foxton had to travel twice as against Levin’s once. Mr Alexander asked whether it was fair that extra rounds should have been added. The executive committee decided that the extra rounds should be played, as the season was not over. Several pertinent questions were then tired at Mr Carmichael in regard to the iS ash Cup. Mr Carmichael said the drawings were taken out of the hat, which was fair, lie considertd fox ton had had a fair deal. He was also asked whether the Union had any jurisdiction over disqualilied players acting as referees, and replied that the lieferees’ Association should not accept such players as members of theix association.
Mr Alexander asked whether it would not he a good idea for the balance-sheet to be distributed amongst clubs some time before the annual meeting of the Union, so that same could be gone into by the Clubs. Mr Carmichael said the idea was a good one, and would be adopted this year. . . Votes of thanks to the visitors, and to the chan', terminated the meeting.
