FOXTON RUGBY FOOTBALL CLUB.
ANNUAL REPORT. The following is the annual report of the Foxton Rugby Football Club, to be submitted at the annual meeting to be held on Tuesday evening next: —
“In presenting the annual report and balance sheet for the past season, your committee desires to congratulate members on the successful operations during the year. The season commenced with a credit balance in hand of £ls/6/10 and closed with a balance in hand of £ls/18/71, a position which, in view of heavy expenses incurred during the season, is highly satisfactory. In connection with finances, the Club is greatly indebted to the Ladies Committee who arranged the catering at the opening Ball, free of cost, thereby saving the Ciub a considerable amount ;also to Mr. S. Austin for conveying the delegates to the union meetings at Levin, which a fleeted a further saving. A very disappointing-pos-ition is disclosed in connection with tin- payment of subs, by members, only £B/16/0 (as against £ll/2/0 for the previous year), having being received from this source. Your committee recommends the incoming committee to take a firm stand during the coming season by refusing to allow players to take part in the games.until their subs, are paid. From donations, no less than £O/1 (i/4 was received. Your committee would lie failing in its duty if it were to pass this bye without appreciative acknowledgment. During the season the club entered senior, junior, third and fourth grade teams, in the Horowhenua Rugby Union competitions. Of ihes.- the fourth grade won their competition, the juniors finished u,i second in the northern division, and were successful in annexing the Licensed Victuallers’ Cup in the knock-out competition. Owing to several members of the senior team having joined up with the League code, it was impissible for us to put a team into the field to defend the Nash Cup. At Easter the Berham|,ore Intermediate team was invited up for !t friendly game with the local juniors. After the match, jl„.y were entertained at a dinner ami social evening given liv the club. On Sunday the two teams acre taken on a sightseeing tour in Manga ha o Hydro Electric works, which was appreciated by all who made the trip. Your committee has in, doubt that members generally will join with US in our appreciation of the generous way in which ;1 1 e local press has given space for m pol ls of matches and football matters in general, a tad which oi'i-ailv sustains interest in the game. Your committee also desires to thank all those who helped with donations to the clubs lumls and assisted the club in other directions. The balance sheet shows receipts totalling £62/14/0, and the expenditure £76/15/ 6A leaving a credit balance of £ls/18/7A,. a very .satisfactory position.
In conclusion your committee desires to extend its deepest sympathy to our chairman, Air H. Hutchins, in the irreparable loss he has sustained through the death of his devoted wife. As a token of respect, your Committee forwarded an artificial wreath on behalf of the Club.
Signed on behalf of the Committee, 11. Robinson, Hon. Sec.
