PUBLIC LIBRARY AND SWIMMING BATHS.
LOAN PROPOSALS REJECTED. Ratepayers evinced little interest in yesterday’s loan proposals for construction of public swimming baths and public library. The loan proposal for the former was £1,400 and for the latter £1,500. Both proposals were rejected by substantial majorities. Of the 570 ratepayers entitled to vote only 151 exercised the privilege. The following is the result of the polling:— LIBRARY. Against 00 For 50 Informal 5 SWIMMING BATHS. Against 88 For 59 Informal 4
