FOXTON PUBLIC SCHOOL.

Excellent response attended the experiment made last week by the staff of tlie above school in the provision of an assignment of work to be carried out by the pupils at home during the present enforced vacation. Although some pupils did not send in work, a big majority did so and the teachers had a most strenuous day yesterday in marking and returning it. Much of the work was excellently done, but unfortunately the fact that the teacher was not at hand to enforce the doing of the- allotment, was in some cases painfully apparent. The headmaster appeals to parents to cooperate with the teachers by insisting upon their children devoting a portion of each day to the carrying out of the work set. Every effort is being made to make the allotments clear and easily understood, so that there should be no difficulty in this direction. The finished work, bearing the name and address of the pupils to be sent to the responsible teachers not later than Thursday next, 19th inst. This work may be posted either at the post office or at the school, in either case preferably by an adult or older child. The Avork must be done on loose paper, not in books, and all exercises must be carefully and neatly written. When corrected the Avork Avill be returned to the pupil by post, hence the necessity for the pupil’s address appearing in the work sent in. The following is the assignment for next Aveek, and a fresh assignment will be published on Thursday next. READING.
