SEWERAGE SCHEME TO BE CONTINUED.
At last night’s Borough Council meeting the Mayor (John Chrystall Esq.) said that they were now in a posilion to continue their sewerage scheme and moved the following moli<m, which was carried unanimously : “That a start be made as soon as practicable, with the laying of the Johnston SU and Francis St. portion of; .(lie sewers and (lmt Mr R. N. Speirs’ price for supplying the necessary timber he accepted. Cartage rates from the station to the job to he at the rate of 9d per 100 s.ft. The waterworks foreman to be ji'uced in charge of the works and that he be empowered to pay wages on the basis of previous engagements.”
Material is already on the ground ready for the job, and it is anticipated that a start will b e niade with the work almost immediately.
