BOOKMAKERS FINED.
Darguville, March 5. Two men, Ivan Jlion Vodauovich, and Mate Jtokela, were lined £2 7 ill, - and costs respectively for bookmakiiig at the recent Otamatea Lacing Club’s non-totalisator meeting ni Aiatakolie. Tadiga Vitauovicli i.n a similar charge was committed tor trial lo the Supreme Court at Auckland. He was admitted to bail of £I.OO self and one surety of £IOO. Two police witnesses were given certificates of exemption from prosecution. The case created considerable interest as one of the police witnesses is a well-known steward of two racing clubs in the district. JULIES BISAGLEE. Nelson, March 5. The charges of bookmaking againsl William Herbert Moxey and Maurice V. K. Maxwell were heard in the Supreme Court yesterday. The juries disagreed in both cases uml iew trials were ordered at next sessions.
