SHOP DAY AND CABARET.
TO ASSIST OR FIREMEN - . As is well known our local Five Brigade is manned by our young men who give their services voluntarily to save life and property. Annually a conference and competitions are held by the brigades throughout (he Dominion, which are of great educational value to firemen and beneficial to the public generally. In order to attend this conf'er- .• iii-i- and lake par! in the couipeliiicns, i lie loi-al brigade is sending a team of live picked firemen. The expense, of so doing will cost at least rf)o and the local public is invited to subscribe this amount. In order to raise tin- sum slated, a shop day will be belli in Moutoa Buildings on Saturday and a cabaret and social evening in the Royal Theatre next Tuesday evening. Mrs IV. Hamer is organising the shop day and i-. meeting with a generous response in the nature of gifts and it only remains for the public to 101 l up and purchase the goods to make it a financial success. The proprietors of the Royal Royal Theatre have given flic premises free on Tuesday night for the social evening and a committee is having no stone unturned to make I lie evening a social success. Dancing will be interspersed with vocal and instrumental items to be followed by supper. The prices of admission are within the means of all and should attract a good attendance.
The following ‘further donations towards the fund are acknowledged: Family Hotel £1 1/-, Messrs Ross, Rough and Co. £2 2/-, Miss Ross Cl, Airs Griffon (Manawatu Hotel) £1 1/-, Airs A. S. Easton £1 1/-. Don't forget Saturday’s shop day and the social evening on Tuesday night in the Royal Theatre.
