PROPOSED DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL.
INSPECTOR TO CONFER WITH COMMITTEE. The following letter, under date 10th iiist., has been received by the local School Committee from the secretary of the Education Board: “Your letter of the 9th instant respecting the application for the establishment of a District High School at Foxton will come before the Board at its meeting next week. I have spoken to the Senior Inspector and he wishes me to say that he will be pleased to visit Foxton and confer with your committee at the earliest possible date. He will be extremely busy until about the 25th in s t., but will make the visit as soon as possible after that date.” The following resolution was passed at a recent meeting of the Borough Council: “That the Council J deplores - the serious delay on the part of (he Education Department in establishing a District High School in the town, the statutory petition tor which was forwarded by the School Committee through the Wanganui Education Board about seven months ago; the petition being supported by both of these bodies; further, the Council heartily supports the request of tile Chamber of Com- . mercc for a public meeting to meet the Senior Inspector.”
