SPORTS ABANDONED. A speeiai meeting of 1 lie above was held last night, presided over by Air W. E. Barber. .There were also present : .Messrs Pearson. Bryant. Smith, Christie, Barron. Austin, Robinson, Ilulchins, Ogilvie and Hie seerelnrv (Mr F. Riminer). The Chairman stated that the obieei of tin* meeting was to decide whether the sports meeting, fixed for the lSlIt inst., should be abandoned in view of the health restrictions against public gatherings during the present epidemic. The subject was fully discussed, and if was unanimously decided to abandon the sports meeting this season.
It was pointed out that a good deal of disappointment would lie felt by members of the 17th Battery which would he in camp next week, as a good programme, of military events had been arranged by Captain Stevens. Tt was decided to ask fin Borough Council to entertain the Battery at a calmret on the 18t.h inst.. in order to compensate for (lit sports abandonment on that dale.
