ALLEGED INDECENT ASSAULT.
VERDICT OF NOT GUILTY. At tlie Palmerston N. Supreme Court on Thursday, William Thomas Moulin, a railway, employee of Waikanae, a man of 31 years, appeared on trial to answer two charges of indecent assault on males, the dates involved being October 18 and November 1, 1924. Evidence of a revolting nature was given by several boys, which was categorically refuted by accused who alleged a conspiracy against him on the part of parents. In summing up His Honour said all the actions described were those of a sexual pervert, of which, unfortunately there were too many in this country. His Honour sought for a reason why the boys should conspire to place the prisoner in gaol. However, if there was a reasonable doubt as to whether Moulin was the guilty man, then a verdict oi not guilty should be brought. The man was either guilty or else he was the innocent victim of a vile conspiracy. The jury retired at 3.45 p.m. and returned one and a quarter hours later with the announcement that the evidence was not sufficient to warrant a conviction against Moulin. liis Honour accepted this as a verdict of not guilty and the prisoner was discharged.
