ARTILLERY CAMP.
Good practice was got in yesterday with the six-pounders. The big (il)-pounders which were man-handled into position yester-day,-were ]>ut into action to-day and tiled over a seven-mile range. The health of the men in camp is excellent. Arrivals at I lie camp to-day were Colonel Falla, 0.C., 2nd Artillery Brigade, Colonel Gard’ner, director of Artillery, and Lieut. Neville, all of Wellington. The officers of the Central Military staff, Palmerston N., together with the officers of the 7th and Btli Batteries, will he preseat to-morrow. An “at home” will he held at the camp at 2.30 p.m. to-morrow. The officers and men will he entertained at a camp concert tonight. The six-pounders fired upwards of 150 rounds yesterday. The 00-pounders tired two rangefinding shots last evening. To-day the reports of the big guns caused the windows to rattle. The tiring will he continued to-morrow and the dismantling and entraining of the guns will take place in the evening. The 6th Battery from Napier will arrive on Saturday. Colonel Powles Command Headquarters, Palmerston North, will arrive to-morrow.
