, hara-a-banes which should pay an extra rax. He said the running of char-a-bancs did not do nearly as much damage fo the roads as private cars tearing along with one or two passengers aboard. This fact could be verified any day if one cared to use then 1 eyes. There were some people who possessed ears who if they wanted a box of hair pins, would think nothing of tearing along the road to Palmerston to procure them. The char-a-banc was a benefit to the private car owners who were saved the expense of using their cars on business trips and -o lessened the wear and tear on the road. Tn his opinion the Government had made a mistake in not imposing a tyre tax instead of the more costly administered registration arrangements.
