ALL BLACKS FAREWELLED.
ENGLISH FORWARD REPORTED. “BROWNLIE DID NOT KICK AIE.” London, January 7. ‘*Sporting Life,” when eulogising the Alll Blacks, says that England has already forgotten the Brownlie incident. “Brownlie can rest assured,” says the writer, “that only his wonderful play throughout the tour will be remembered.” The paper, in an appreciative review of the All Blacks’ tour, states that it will always be firmly convinced that /fen g land should not have lost Saturday’s match, just as they were equally convinced that, the 1905 New Zealanders were siir|larly unfortunate against Wales. Curiously enough both games will always be regarded as the two greatest encounters ever witnessed in the history of Rugby. The referee in the Alii BlacksEnglish match, Air Freetlicy, lias reported Edwards, an English forward, to the Rugby Union for rough play against the All Blacks. Edwards on being interviewed,, denies that lie was personally cautioned, hut said both packs were spoken to generally. “I would like the public to know,” he said, “that Cyril Brownlie did not kick me while I was on the ground, but three or four iqinutes before lie was sent oft. Brownlie struck me in the face in a line-out, giving me a black eye. Tlioreferee saw that incident.”
The All Blacks placed a wreath on Gallaher’s grave. They have resumed training in Paris. The team trained yesterday at Prince's Park. There are heavy bookings for both the- Colunibcs and Toulouse matches, both promising to beat previous records. In view of the conflicting statements attributed to him regarding the Brownlie incident, Wakefield, the. English captain; states that after the match he said lie did not seethe incident. Therefore lie had no statement to make. Aliy other remarks attributed to him were untrue.
